Day 10 - 31 Days of Halloween

Well, today I wasn't as lucky with my projects as I have been. I had a great idea in my head but the final product is nothing like I had imagined it would be. :(
So, I poured some acrylic paint into some clear ornaments and then stamped a bunch of images from Lonely Boy and Puff. First, I must say, that stamping on rounded glass was not easy and not so fun, LOL. My images all came out smeared. Second, you can barely see the stamped image on some of the darker colored bulbs. Oh well, that's how we learn, right? So, i'm still posting pics of this project even though i'm not satisfied, but it took me a long time with the paint and all. It's a failed attempt and if anyone has experience with something like this I would love some pointers so I can try again in the future.

Thanks for looking and thanks for all the awesome comments so far! That's what really makes this experience worth while - knowing that there are people like you out there and that they appreciate you for who you are....YOU GUYS ROCK!

Oh, and for those that asked....my zombie video won't be ready for at least another week...but I might be able to get a copy of just my scene. I will definitely share it when i get it! My "real" job is as a Graphic Designer for a well known company...and we did the video to promote an upcoming sale called "Scary Savings". The video isn't for the public, just for our sales field.

Now off you go! Get to hopping!

  1. Tori... As for your failed attempt; I so understand!!! I just had that happen while making wooden ornaments... only I messed it up so bad it went in the garbage!!! I love your glass ornament idea... I have a thought on this one... what if you stamped your images on tissue paper, heat embossed them and slipped them through the top and get them lined up on the edge then add your paint!!! I have done the same thing with Christmas balls before but instead of paint I used glitter and watered down clear glue! Just a thought!!! I don't know that it will work with the paint; but at least you wouldn't be stamping on a curve!!! I still think they turned out good!!!

  4. The only thing I know about stamping on a curve, is it is best to keep the rubber in your hand, not a on any block. That being said...you saw my platter, and how the block being a solid and having a corner, was too big for the downward curve of the platter from the other day, and I ended up with smeared images also.

I think these look pretty cool anyway!

I have a project that i have down a handful of times, always coming out great, and when trying it for this blog hop challenge --TWICE, both times came out messed up...so now I am thinking I might share them anyway.

  6. Tory I think these turned out great. I've done what Sara mentioned and stamped on tissue and then added to the inside of the ornament but didn't have the patience when my image didn't go the way I wanted. I have used reinker and glitter on the insides tho, you'll get a lighter color to see your images better.

  8. The images I can see don't look smeared at all! Good editing or perfectionism? No matter, they look wonderful to me and I love the bright paint colors you used!

  13. I think the ornaments look good from here. We're always our own worst critics and probably doesn't notice much to anyone else. I'd have gone the tissue paper route. Cut close to the image and stuck on the outside with modpodge. Goodluck on next attempt

  15. if you don't use a mount for the stamps, it's easier to stamp them on the glass balls. the poured paint is great! you did a great job on them, they look perfect
