The fabulous Dolls got the chance to play with our Carnies stamps and Fortune Teller Digi. You MUST go over and see what they created! The challenge is to create a Big-Fishy Scene based on the movie Big Fish, and you have until Monday, August 3rd to submit your entries if you wanna play for a great prize!
The winner will get a Carnies Umnounted Stamp Sheet and our Fortune Teller Carnie Digi, which isn't even available to purchase anymore - how cool is that!
So, in honor of this awesome challenge I have created my own Big-Fishy Scene out of an altered box. I got the box from Michael's for about $2 on clearance (I love clearance sales). Here is a picture of the box before i got my grimey, paint-covered hands all over it:
I primer'd and painted the box with acrylic paints. Red for the base and then a pearl to create the stripes. I then added some Tim Holtz Distress Ink (tea dye). I stamped a bunch of carnie images to the top of the box with my Stazon Black. I cut a small rectangle from my Jen Wilson Spectrums Paper Pad (bought on clearance as well, half price...yea baby :) and distressed it. I stamped out the frame from Smeared Inks Nymphs Set on another sheet of paper from the same pad and then cut it out. Used some silver paint to make a "mirror" behind the frame. Then I stamped out my Twin Sister Carnies and colored them with my Prismacolor markers. Phew....a lot of stamping went into this box! OK...so I stamped the word CARNIVAL (also in the Carnies set) with the distress ink onto the same rectangle and then I glued everything together. Oh yea, and I used some ribbon!
For the inside of the box I used lots of blue and white acrylic paint. I stamped out my Water Nymph for the inside of my box and colored her in as well. Then, I glued her to the side panel and placed the Blue Moon Snake Pendant in her hands with hot glue. I stamped the other inside panels with the Tree Nymph. For the final touch...I sprayed the entire thing with some silver glitter spray :)
Hope you like it - would love your feedback.
So, go now to check out all the details and wicked projects over at The Burtonesque Dolls. Can't wait to see what you create!
