This week's theme at Smudgy Antics is BLACK AND BLUE.

Here are the details:

Take this theme however you wish. Black and Blue can be your color scheme, use the words Black and Blue in your sentiment, or bruise up some "normal" stamped image, etc. The more wild and creative you can get, the better!
We like it edgy and dark around here so show us what you've got!
Please refer to the sidebar on the left for the rules.

BTW, you do not have to make a card. We also accept altered items, art journal pages, mixed media pieces, etc. As long as there is a stamped image and you follow the rules on the left sidebar, it's all fair game.

Here is my offering today....I used Rusalka - I love this image! I wasn't completely happy with my coloring, but i was happy to try out my new CliKit tool....I need practice! LOL Be sure to play along with us at Smudgy Antics to win the awesome SLAVE Angel digi or a chance at being TOP 3!!

Bloody Valentine - February Blog Hop - DAY 3

Here we go! The final day of our Bloody Valentine Blog Hop! I hope you've enjoyed hopping so far and all the wonderful creations our members have done for you. Today I bring you another piece of my SSV gift. I hoped to not have to post these and spoil the contents of my gift, but I haven't had a moment to work on anything other than this since I want to get it in the post soon. This was a raw wood hinge box before I started. I used black acrylic paint to cover my box...then used the collage stamp from Quoth the Raven to top my box. I framed the image with more black paint and black velvet ribbon....and topped with a metal flower that I filled with red glitter glue. For the inside of my box i used black topped with red heat embossed splatters from the Inky Dreams set. Hope you like!

Bloody Valentine - February Blog Hop - DAY 2

Welcome to Day 2 of Smeared and Smudge's Bloody Valentine Member Blog Hop. For those of you who joined us yesterday, thanks for coming back for Day 2! For those of you stopping by for the first time, you might want to consider also scrolling down a post and checking out the first day of our Bloody Valentine Hop! And while you're at it - stop by the forum and see what we're all about! We've got great monthly challenges and fantastic members that supply plenty of inspiration to each other as well as daily comradery!

Here is my offering for Day 2. This is part of my SSV (Secret Sister Valentine) gift...I purchased a small purple plastic frame in the dollar bin at Michael's....painted over it with black acrylic paint and then sanded it down so that part of the purple and some of the white (from under the purple) would show through. I then used the same effect on a metal flower embellie, added a bit of red glitter glue in the center and glued it to the top of the frame. I also made a small bow out of some black velvet ribbon. To fill the frame I wanted to do something special. I decided to use "Tease" from the Zombie Pinup digis. I colored her digitally, applied her to an image I purchased from Itkupilli and printed her out on glossy paper. The senti also came from the Zombie Pinup digi set. Hope you like it (and hope my SSV will like it too)!

This is the digital coloring and print before I put it in the frame.

Bloody Valentine - February Blog Hop - DAY 1

Here we go again! What would Smeared and Smudged be without an event to celebrate Valentines Day - OUR WAY! Instead of a February member blog hop are having a three day long BLOODY VALENTINE HOP! Our hop starts today thru Sunday, February 12.

The theme is Bloody Valentine so I hope your not too squeamish!!!! Here is my offering for today. I decided to go digital. Everything was colored and assembled in Photoshop. I used Ann Marie from Smeared Ink's Glam Vamps along with a heart and senti from the Bloody Valentine set. Hope you like it!!!

MESH IT! Smeared & Smudged January Member Blog Hop

It's that time again! Time for the Smeared and Smudged member blog hop. Our theme this month is MESH IT! We asked our members to interpret this however they'd like...they could use mesh, mesh images together, have a mesh texture...etc. The more imagination THE BETTER!

Well, I have to give a little bit of a story with my project. I have never used mesh before, nor did I have any lying around my house. As most of you know, I'm a pretty busy gal and end up waiting until the last minute to get things done - mainly because I don't have time to think about it until the deadline hits me. Typical artist, right? On my lunch break today I decided to go look for some mesh. My first attempt - Michael's. WRONG! They don't carry mesh. By the time I figured it out my lunch break was over (you know I can't go to Michael's without walking through the entire store and drooling over all the stuff I can't afford to buy- that takes time). So - on my way back to work I spot a Wal-Mart. I thought "what the heck, I'll be late and surely I'll find some mesh". Well - I found some mesh - in the form of a sink strainer. You know, the thing that catches all the nasty stuff that you don't want washing down your drain when you're cleaning your dishes....yea, that thing. So I bought it. LOL....and my mesh adventure begins! After I got home from work I made dinner for my little one and as we sat eating our freshly baked frozen pizza I worked at removing the mesh from the metal frame. This is a tricky process. The little metal wires close to the edge fall out - I think I might have ingested some before I realized it was falling apart over my pizza - let's hope not! After a while of struggling with the frame I decided I was just going to force it out - and now I have a big boo-boo. The metal frame sliced right through a couple layers of skin....a little deeper than a paper cut. Now I'm pissed, right? The only thing I can think to do now is put on my 'Ove Glove' for protection and just rip the thing apart! IT WORKED! Yay me! LOL. (I hope you're all amused :) Sorry for rambling, but I'm getting tired...

OK, that's it...enough story time. The rest of my project consists of a raw wood frame, some flat black spray paint, some versamark, UTEE, skull beads, the dreaded mesh, some cool paper out of a magazine, a rubber stamp from Urban Decay (Smeared Ink) and my digi stamp Gear Heart (Smeared Ink - Inner Workings set). I colored my frame with the flat black spray paint and set it aside to dry. I colored my digi with my prismacolor markers and added some glossy accents for highlights. I cut this awesome background image from a print magazine and stamped the words "Love You" in versamark....used UTEE clear to make it shiny. After my frame dried I used the same process except with the Urban Decay image to create some awesome texture. I think the gloss texture on the flat black really stands out. LOVE IT! I placed my background in my frame with the mesh and filled it with my skull beads. Then the final touch was gluing the heart onto the outside of the frame...Here you go, hope you like it!!

I've started a couple of new tattoos - one on myself and one on my hubby. Check it out!

This is on my inner left forearm. It's a twisted tree of life. So far just the outline and as soon as it heals I'll add in some shading and coloring. I can't wait!!

And here is the pin-up style lass that I put on my hubby's outer right forearm...You might recognize her! LOL. She is one of our (Smeared Ink) Chicks Dig Guns stamps. He's been wanting me to tattoo him up with our stamps for a while...well, it has begun! Again, only the outline so far...but it will be fun to color in a couple of weeks!

Oh my - so sorry everyone! i'm a day late on this one! I completely lost track of time - my family came into town and I seemed to have forgotten my project. My offering for Day 10 is from Smeared Ink's Steampunk Christmas set. I used my watercolor pencils for the very first time. Whatcha think? I like them and think I'll be working with them again in the near future. :)

Sorry I'm late! I've got so much going on today that I completely forgot my post. I made these ornaments for my christmas tree. Two are Angels from Smeared Ink's Symbology of Angels set and the church is from the Holy City set. Hope you like them - I do have to say that the Muse Angel (wings pointed to the sky) is my favorite. I colored him with my new Copics and I love the way these markers work!

Day 5 of 12 Days of Christmas

Howdy folks and welcome to DAY 5! We're almost to the half-way point which means Christmas is right around the corner! Are you guys ready?

Today I offer you a sweet little Stitchy Doll stuffed Stocking. I was inspired by Kelli's Day 3 project so I thought I'd make a stocking to hang on my tree. I colored my Stitchy Doll with Copics and pieced the stocking together using some Graphic45 paper. Then I added a bit of ribbon and sprayed the entire thing with gold glitter. The pictures aren't that great - for that I apologize. I think he looks better in person because the glitter doesn't get in the way. Anyhoo, enjoy your hopping today!

Here is my day 4 offering. I used the Deer Skull from the Gothic Christmas set. My goal for this card was to make it as "country" as I could stand it. LOL. My husband is a hunter so I thought he would love this card. Of course, I forgot to show it to him this morning, doi!

Here is my day 3 offering - I used the new Smeared Ink Steampunk Santa and colored him with my distress inks. The other elements were from paper packs - I added some ribbon and glossy accents to make it look pretty (you can probably tell that I took the pic before the glossy accents was dry - I'm a very impatient person, sorry about that!)

12 Days of Christmas Merry Hopper

Here is my offering for Day 1. I've used one of Smeared Ink's new digis "Steampunk Sugarplum Fairy", colored her with my Copics and Prismacolor markers, and then cut her out. Then, I used some paper from Recollections "Old Fashioned Christmas" and stenciled in some different images with my distress inks. My sentiment "Visions of Sugar Plums" was also cut from the paper collection. I pop dot mounted my sentiment to some of the base paper and cut it all out - then added some Glossy Accents to make the letters really shine. I pop dot mounted my sugar plum fairy and added some small plastic star "sugar", applied Glossy accents to her goggles, and then took the entire thing outside and sprayed with gold glitter spray. I took two photos for you so you could see the reflections of the glitter too. Hope you like it!

Scary Savings - MY DEBUT ZOMBIE MOVIE!

I finally was able to get a copy of my zombie movie that we made at work for a Scary Savings promotion. Keep in mind that this movie was done for internal use, not for the public. I recorded this from my iPhone and my laptop, because the original was WAY to big to upload. Sorry for the bad recording, but I hope you like it anyway! There are two parts because I cut out the middle portion that pertains to employees and it would have been really boring for you.

A Little Steamy - Smeared and Smudged Member Blog Hop

Day 31 - 31 Days of Halloween

Well, my friends, it's HALLOWEEN! Happy Halloween to you! This also means that it's the last day of this year's 31 Days of Halloween celebration blog hop. I'm sure some of you are ready to go back to your normal lives - but for most of us - we're saddened to see this come to an end. We've learned so much from each other and from ourselves. Creating something ever day is a true challenge, but worth every minute of it!

So - for my 31st day of Halloween offering I decided to make another little character. He's not as cool as the first, IMO. But you can never be as cool as the original, I guess. I did things a little bit different so he wouldn't be exactly the same. I used a square wooden block instead of a round wooden bead for the head. And I didn't wrap his wire limbs - I left them exposed and silver. For his stamped contents I used a skull from Inkadinkadoo. I hope you like him and please visit everyone for our last day on this wonderful hop! I hope to see you all next year!!

...Late is better than never, right? Here is my DAY 30 offering. I used Precious from the Goth Fairies. I colored her with distress inks...can you tell that I only have a few? LOL. I also used my distress inks on a tattered angels tile. All the other images, including the witch and the cat, are apart of the tile. Hope you like it!

Welcome to day 29 - only two more days left! Can you believe it!!! It's gone by so fast!! It makes me sad, but I'm sure my family will be happy that it's coming to an end. LOL.

Today I made an ATC for you. I used a lot of distress ink, some MS colored ink pads, grunge board cut outs and a stamp from "As Death". I hope you like it! It's very colorful :)

Today - I've gone digital again! I used an awesome image designed by our very own design team member, Ike! This is an awesome image and I had lots of fun coloring it. I added some pumpkins as well to add some color and I wanted to enter this into HDH too :) - The paper is Crafty Chaos :)

I, personally, love working with Kenny K images!

This is Brianna Blaster - I colored her with distress inks - which is the first time i've ever tried that technique. I really loved the effect - the colors blended extremely well and I love that they are still bright where I wanted them to be. LOVE IT! I'll be using this technique more often now that I've tried it!

OK - Can I just say that I'm super excited about the project I'm showing you today. It's been in my head for a while....and now, it's real! I LOVE the way it turned out and think I'll make more and sell them! Let me know what you think!

I used one of those clear pales from Michael's and turned it into a little person! My other materials include acrylic paint, hanger wire, floral wire, buttons, a big wooded bead, straw, hot glue, UTEE, the heart stamp from Quoth the Raven (Smeared Ink), red card stock and gold glitter spray.

I'm so sorry I missed another day (day 23), but my life just got in the way of my creating this weekend. I almost didn't have anything for you today either, but I managed to get something done last minute. It's all digital and I hope you don't mind! So, the only colors I have so far are from the skin-tone set of six....so I colored my image with just those colors. Then I added a bit of glitter glue to give her hat, shirt, skirt, shoes and eyes a bit of a sparkle. I set her aside to dry and began work on my other elements. I used some distress inks and stamped a swirly flourish image onto my background papers. Then I decided to add some elements of Tim Holtz grunge board shapes. The wings and all the numbers and letters are from the grunge board. I distressed them with Peeled Paint distress pad and then topped them with glitter glue. Once I glued everything together i decided to add some green glittery buttons....and voila! Hope you like!

Hello again! Welcome to Day 20! There's so little of the month left - it's kind of sad! OK, so I'm working on a project that is taking me a little more time than usual, so for today I went extremely simple. Hope you're not disappointed, but hopefully my more extravagant project will make up for it when I finally get it finished. So - today I give you spider web sun glasses. I used a spider web and spider stamp from Inkadinkadoo with white ink and stamped them onto the lens of these cool glasses. It was actually really hard for me to do because the stamp slid around so easily on the lens, it smeared easily. I had to redo it a few times before I got it to look this good. LOL - but, I have a wonderful model for them. This is my daughter, India...isn't she cute ;)

Howdy folks - WOW again!I can't beleive it's Day 19 and I've only missed one day! That's more than I was able to do last year! Woohoo! Yay me and yay all you other WICKED BLOGGERS! WE ROCK!!!

Here is a project that I started on Sunday that just didn't work out the way I wanted. I layered strips of paper onto my coregated board and then painted it with acrylics. Then I stained my pumpkin digis from "The Patch" with Tim Holtz Distress stains and mod podged them onto my board. Added the sentiment, straw, and, of course, gold glitter spray!!! WHAAAAT! LOL. Sorry. I get goofy when I don't know what else to say. Here you go... this is hanging on my front door now :)

Today i bring you something a little bit different. I found these cool little DIY vinyl toys at Michaels when I was doing my Halloween shopping. This little guy has been waiting to be used for a couple of months. I spray painted him with silver paint and then applied a nice coat of crackle over him. I then dry brushed the green and black acrylic paint over the crackle. I really like the effect of the crackle. I stamped a skull and crossbones onto the toy's belly but you can't see it since I added a happy halloween sign (stamped) into his hands. The final touches were to add glitter paint and some brads for eyes. Hope you like him!

Day 16 - 31 Days of Halloween

Howdy folks! Welcome to Day 16 of 31 Days of Halloween! Today I made a little wall hanger. I got this pre-cut at Michael's. I used the Gesso trick that I've used a couple of times previously and painted over with orange and maroon acrylic paints. Some of you asked what kind of Gesso I use and it's just regular ole Gesso. (Susan G. - can't wait to see you play with some)

While my paint was drying I colored my Stitchy Doll and cut him out. Then I colored my TREAT letters from the Build-A-Zombie Alphabet and cut them out. I applied all my images to my painted wood with Mod Podge and also gave it a good coat on top to make it somewhat shiny. Then I applied my buttons for the Stitchy Doll's eyes. I got the idea from someone else on this blog hop but at the moment can't remember who it was...I'll probably remember after I get some sleep and give some credit :) - I really think this turned out great!

Day 15 - 31 Days of Halloween!

OMG - We're pretty much half way thru with October - can you believe it!?! It's been a helluva ride so far and we hope you all are enjoying it as much as we are....It may be slightly torturous, but it's so worth it! As far as my cold goes, at the moment I'm not sure if I'm getting better or not. LOL. I have lost my voice today and can't stop coughing, but I don't feel miserable, so hopefully all is well. Thanks again for the well wishes, I'm sure I'll be just fine in a couple of days. I know many of you have experienced some health problems too and hope you're on the mend!

Pretty easy, right? On my FB page I update with new products and specials - and every once in a while I have giveaways!!

Now - on to my Day 15 offering. I used the new Smeared Ink "Masquerade" digi (which you can get for free by playing in one of our challenges on the forum this month). I colored her with my prismacolor markers. Then - i added some clear microbeads to her hat, bra, skirt and eyes to give her a sparkle! While that was drying, I started on my tag. I used some distress stain for my base color and then some more distress ink from a pad on my edges and to screen an image in the background. Then I used the same distress ink to stamp some pumpkins in the background. I added some green glittery ribbon and my OCTOBER 31 at the bottom. The last step was to apply my digi image and i had a little bit of a hick-up.... I was applying the glue dots to the back of her and when I was applying them to her head I RIPPED HER HEAD OFF! Oh my hell! LOL. Hopefully you can't notice it too bad. LOL. Other than that, I like the way this one turned out.

Day 14 - 31 Days of Halloween

Good morning! So far, I'm feeling a little better and I'm pretty sure I don't have an ear infection - so I'm very thankful for that! I think it's just a cold and is hopefully on it's way out by now! Thank you all for your thoughts and well wishes.

My day 14 project is fairly simple. I think there is no room for my mojo because my boogers are taking up all the real estate. LOL. Oh well, what can you do? So, I used a chip-board tile from Tattered angels that was already embossed with some cool images. The fence and the birds were already apart of the tile. I used Stormy Night distress stain on over the entire image and then painted some black ink onto the birds and fence so they would stand out. I then stamped my images from Smeared Ink's Quoth the Raven set (yes, again!) and then added some glitter and ribbon. Voila!

Well, the no sleep is catching up with me...I'm starting to get a little sick. i've had a sore throat all day today and feel like I might be getting an ear infection. I have never had one, that I can remember, so it might not be it - but my jaw has been hurting and my ears are popping like crazy. Who knows - it could all be allergies too. LOL. Sorry for the little bit of moaning there. But what is Halloween without some MOAAANING! ;)

On to my Day 12 offering. I used another digi from the Goth Fairies set (Smeared Ink). I really really like her. The other stamps are Inkadinkadoo. Enjoy!

Day 11 - 31 Days of Halloween

What a long day it was yesterday. I'm going to post my Day 11 project and hit the sac!! OK - I'm going to make this as quick as possible because I'm beat! I went to Hobby Lobby earlier today and found - yes, another - raw wood box to decorate. I have plenty already, but this one just called my name....I should have never gone down that isle!! Anyhoo, I mod-podged some really cool tissue paper onto the outside of the box and then sanded it to give it a distressed look. They I applied some Tim Holtz distress crackle paint ( antique lines), dried it with my heat gun, burned my hand by touching the metal tip, and then used my vintage photo and peeled paint distress pads to give it some dimension. While all that was settling, I colored my 4 (YES, FOUR) zombie headshots (smeared ink) with my prismacolor markers and cut them out. I mod-podged them to the inside of the box. The cool thing is that the box was already sectioned off into 4 little compartments.....so they fit perfectly! I added some crackle and distress ink to them as well and then used my heat gun again to get it all dried quickly (because I'm very impatient!). The final touch was to add some glitter paint to the outside of the box to give it just a little bit of sparkle. The best thing about this box is that after I use it has Halloween decor I can use it to hold my ATCs!!!!!! The four compartments inside the box are the perfect size for ATCs and I thought HOW AWESOME! It was just meant to be....me and this box are soul mates! And - that's how I know I'm tired. LOL. Day 10 - 31 Days of Halloween

Well, today I wasn't as lucky with my projects as I have been. I had a great idea in my head but the final product is nothing like I had imagined it would be. :(
So, I poured some acrylic paint into some clear ornaments and then stamped a bunch of images from Lonely Boy and Puff. First, I must say, that stamping on rounded glass was not easy and not so fun, LOL. My images all came out smeared. Second, you can barely see the stamped image on some of the darker colored bulbs. Oh well, that's how we learn, right? So, i'm still posting pics of this project even though i'm not satisfied, but it took me a long time with the paint and all. It's a failed attempt and if anyone has experience with something like this I would love some pointers so I can try again in the future.

Thanks for looking and thanks for all the awesome comments so far! That's what really makes this experience worth while - knowing that there are people like you out there and that they appreciate you for who you are....YOU GUYS ROCK!

Oh, and for those that asked....my zombie video won't be ready for at least another week...but I might be able to get a copy of just my scene. I will definitely share it when i get it! My "real" job is as a Graphic Designer for a well known company...and we did the video to promote an upcoming sale called "Scary Savings". The video isn't for the public, just for our sales field.

Day 9 and still going strong, how about you? I really can't even believe we're at day 9 already. At this rate, the month is going to FLY BY! I'm glad you guys love the "zombie me" as much as I did...here are a few more pics I was able to get from the photographer....

We called this shot "Crazy Eyes" LOL

And this one we were still in make-up and just having fun behind the scenes...I mean really, zombies don't actually bite other zombies - there's no point. ;)

And now to my Day 9 project. I had to go back to my good ole "Quoth the Raven" set for this one. I was going to make an ATC but ended up making it into a card. I didn't have to do any coloring today...all stamp and colored papers....although, I had to add in a little bit of glitter - are you surprised? ;)

I had an awesome day yesterday! I was cast in a video (at my "real" job) as a brain eating zombie. It was an amazing experience and I can't wait to share some of the video and more hopefully more pictures....But here I am after make-up...

OK, so, for my Day 8 project I decided to make a b-day card for one of the guys in the studio (specifically the guy in the photo above getting ready to slug me :) - and I really loved the sketch and colors that I used on yesterdays project so I kinda reused them for his card...just a different size and different imagery on it. Sorry if it's really similar to yesterday, but I knew he would love it! I chose to work with "Tease" Smeared Ink's Zombie Pin-ups. I colored her with my prismacolor markers. The senti is also from the Zombie Pin-ups set. Hope you like and enjoy hopping today!!

Day 6 - 31 Days of Halloween

Finally finished Day 6! Woohoo! Today I decided break out the raw wood boxes and chose to work with this little bird house! It was super cute and I couldn't pass up the buy when I did my Michael's shopping. Glad I got plenty of boxes to choose from while I was there, I've really been inspired to use the this week.

So, I started with raw wood and applied some white Gesso. I heated the Gesso with my heat gun until it bubbled up really good to create the awesome texture you see. I painted over that with green acrylic paint and then dry brushed some black over it. I used two stamps from Candy is Dandy (Smeared Ink) - the spider web and the little round circle pattern. I used some deep green embossing powder on them and heat embossed it. I hot glue'd my grass and skull into place and the finishing touch was to add some glitter paint over everything (i'm sensing a theme here, LOL). Hope you like it!!

Hello Hello! Welcome to DAY 5! You guys are doing a wonderful job so far and I'm so glad you've all joined us this year.

For my Day 5 post - I went a little more simple & soft and made a card using Calypso the rat from Smeared Ink. I screened a fence into the background using my distress inks and also stamped a spiders web into the corders....Then I mounted my Graphic 45 "Hallowe'en" cut-out. The final touch was adding the buttons to Calypso's eyes. Well....I had to make it weird somehow! LOL

Day 4 - 31 Days of Halloween!

Howdy folks! Day 4 and my mojo didn't go back into hiding yet! Wooohooo! I hope you all are still having a blast and loving every minute of our creeptastic 31 day celebration of Halloween!! Don't forget about all the cool stuff you can win each and every day by leaving comments and playing along with our scavenger hunt.

OK, my offering for day 4 is another altered box. I had so much fun making the Poe box that I decided I'd have another go. This one is a little bit smaller, but similar in that it was raw wood before I started and I purchased it at Michael's. This time around I used black acrylic paint for my base....then stamped my spider webs and spider images (all from Inkadinkadoo) with VersaMark. I used red embossing powder for all of my stamped images. Once everything was dry i coated my box in glitter paint and painted my hinges with a silver paint pen since they were gold to begin with.

In pictures 2 and 3 you can see that my mamma spider, a.k.a. Black Widow, is under glass. She's very dangerous and keeps trophies from all her kills inside the box! Here you go, enjoy!

Day 3 - 31 days of Halloween

Woohooo! We've made it to DAY3!!! How are you holding up? Aren't you just loving all the wonderful art?!?! Thank you to everyone that left me such thoughtful and nice comments yesterday when I was feeling not so creative....you gave my mojo the ego boost it needed to come out of hiding!!! At least for today anyway!

Now this project i made from a raw wood hinge box that I purchased at Michael's. I LOVE these things and have quite a few to work on. This one I painted with acrylic paints (purple, orange and metallic pearl) and used a bit of crackle for texturing. On the top of my box I used Poe and the wings from Quoth the Raven rubber set from Smeared Ink. I also used the fence stamp on the sides of the box for some added texture. On the inside I used the purple acrylic and a scarlet for an accent on the top inside of the box. I stamped NEVERMORE on that panel. Then, for my final touch I added some purple tissue paper and a mended heart jewel that I had in my stash. Hope you like it!!

I used the mummy Haziz from Smeared Ink's 'Smell My Feet' digi stamp set along with some bats and my Happy Halloween sentiment from Inkadinkado. My background paper is just a basic orange card stock that I added some black smudges too and then I cut a really neat image out of a magazine to frame my main image. Goth Fairies!

Good evening! I have a couple new projects to share tonight. I've been working on these two cards a little bit throughout the day and finally have them finished. They feature two of our new digis from the GOTH FAIRIES digi set. I made them both pretty large...the cards are 8.5 x 5.5 and they take up pretty much the entire card. I hope you like them!

First, I'd like to introduce Melina:

I colored her using prisma color markers and a white gel pen. I used gold glitter to stamp some flourishes on my green and orange paper along with the Happy Halloween sentiment. Then I added some buttons and hemp for my final touch. Isn't she pretty!!

Second, I'd like to introduce Honey:

This card was designed for our sketch challenge over on Smeared and Smudged. I colored her with prisma color markers as well. I used gray card stock for my base card and used the bark stamp from Smeared Ink's Urban Decay rubber set to texture it. I used a spider web stamp for the corner (one I had - can't remember where it's from) and highlighted it with my gel pen. Then I added some black brads and made them into little spiders. Then - I used a border from Recollections at the bottom.

Aren't they awesome!?! And even more good new - we will be having mini releases throughout the rest of the month and into October, so keep your eyes peeled and check back often!

OK, on to the celebratory projects! My first projects uses a digi image from the Build a Graveyard set - The RIP Tombstone. I just LOVE the skeleton hands! For this project I tried all kinds of stuff that I've never done before. First off - it's my first real tag. Second, I used a screen (tattered angels). And third, I EMBOSSED! I've been wanting to try embossing for a very long time now and finally got the courage to attempt it on this piece. It was just time! Haha. For coloring, I used prisma color markers and tim holtz distress ink pads. Hope you love it! This tags new home will soon be with Lady Brayton!

Alright - I went a little more "fun" with my second piece. I chose to work with the Pumpkin Head digi from the Smell My Feet digi set. With this one I made an ATC. I used a pumpkin border from Recollections and lightly sanded it to look worn. Then I tied some hemp around it and added my Pumpkin Head image (colored with prisma color markers). The last touch was adding the "feed me" sentiment which I used individual letter stamps to create and emboss. Enjoy!

All Wicked Bloggers will receive a Survival Button at the end of the month to proudly post on their blog.

The Rules:
Wicked Bloggers must post one project each day in October on their blog by 9AM Pacific time in order to qualify for the grand prize drawing. The project must be handmade and stamped with either a rubber or digi stamp. This year we are allowing all digital projects as long as they are the bloggers original digital art.

Bloggers must also post the Wicked Blog list with links to all participating blogs in either their daily posts or on the sidebar of their blog for easy access. The Wicked Blogs list will be posted here by September 25, 2011.

Horrifying Hopper

What You Have To Do:
Hop through each of the Wicked Blogs that are participating and leave a comment on each project. No need to sign up, just start on the first day and work your way through all the blogs. All Horrifying Hoppers will receive a Survival Button at the end of the month to proudly post on their blog.

The Rules:
You must leave a comment on EACH participating blog EVERY day in October to qualify for the grand prize drawing. Your comment should be about the project or something related (i.e.-no "Here's my comment for today" or "I'm here!"...these types of comments won't count!) If you miss a day or a blog, you will still qualify to receive a survival button, but will not qualify for the grand prize drawing.

What You Have To Do:

Some of you can't participate all month long, and that's okay! Only Wicked Bloggers and Horrifying Hoppers are up for the grand prize drawing, but if you can't do either of those you will still have the chance to win some Lurker prizes! We will be hiding scavenger hunt pictures randomly throughout the month on various participating blogs...if you find one on any given day, you will be put in for that day's freebie drawing. It may be a coupon, a free digi, or a Halloween goodie, who knows! We are working on some great sponsor prizes for the scavenger hunt this year, and it will be well worth your time to visit every once in a while.

The Rules:

Scavenger Items will be hidden randomly on the Wicked Blogs, and are not guaranteed to be available every day. You will have to visit blogs to find them. If you find one, you will email and let us know exactly where it was and your name will go into that scavenger item's drawing. Each person who finds the "hidden" picture will get one entry. The drawing for each scavenger prize will be the day after it was posted and winners will be chosen by random number based on who emailed. Wicked Bloggers are able to participate and find scavenger pictures as well, unless it is hidden on their own blog.

August Smeared & Smudge Member Blog Hop

It's that time again! Time for the Smeared and Smudged member blog hop. Want to know what our theme is? It is paint! Yep, we got all sploshy and gooey with one of the messiest (and funnest!) mediums around.

Here is my offering:

I used an image from Smeared Ink's Calaveras Digi Set (designed by our very own Lady Brayton!) - colored with my prisma color markers. The little book was purchased at michael's for like $1 with the intention to alter it. Here is is before I put all the goop on it!

So, I painted over it with white acrylic and then green acrylic paints and heated it up with my heat gun to get the texture you see here. When I applied the paint i left it really thick in areas so that it would bubble up with the heat. My next step was adding the fringe to the inside of the cover with a little hot glue...Then, I went back to the outside cover and used my mulberry marker to highlight the textures over the green paint. I added some velvet ribbon for a tie closure, glued my sugar skull on top...and then made some flowers out of ribbon (for the first time evar! what do you think, freddie?)...and voila!

Here's the second project I made with the new Smeared Ink Images....She is part of the Mistresses of the Dark set.

She was colored with my prisma color markers and they highlighted with a white gel pen and glossy accents. I'm really diggin' the colors I used on her! Then I used some stamps from Inky Dream and Teen Sayings for the background splatters and the sentiment "Bite Me"

Halloween In July! - Smeared Ink New Release

Hello everyone! Thanks for stopping by today - we have a HUGE release and celebration hop to share with you today.This is the first of Smeared Ink's two Halloween Releases. Lots to look at, I KNOW! But there's more! Here is my first project featuring the Profile Head from Gross Anatomy. My husband actually colored the head for me as I colored other stamps for the rest of my projects...ISN'T IT GOOD! I was pleasantly surprised at his coloring skills :)

So here is the card I made - Hope you like it!

So - my hubby colored the head with my prisma color markers. I used a cream colored card and distressed it with my black ink...then I dripped some glossy accents at the top and let it dry. Once it was dry i rubbed some red ink on it to make it look like BLOOD! I stamped my sentiment from the AS DEATH rubber stamp set and then put together my little death potion. I just used water and food coloring for the contents...the I wired it and added my skull charm.

OK, so, on to the hop. Want to know what our theme is? Since the weather is getting so nice and we'll be spending so much more time outdoors, we were asked to use a natural element in our projects! There has to be some sort of natural element that we found outside included in our projects. It can be a stick, a rock, a pressed flower, a leaf, a bone, etc. This is right up my alley since I live in the country and find cool stuff all the time!

Here is my offering:

The natural element is the feather that I found....I colored it black with my stamp ink and added some silver. The stamp I used is RIP Birdy - this is the freebie digi you can get this month by playing along in one of our challenges on the forum!! Keep in mind that the only way to get our freebie digis is to play along with a challenge - they're not available to order through our shop.

I also created this card towith our Guest Designer Challenge from Susan (Susan's Crafty Chaos) in mind. Her challenge was to make it MONO! This is the first time I've ever tried to make a card without more than one color, so I hope it works (silver doesn't count as a separate color, right? - it's gray, which is just a tone of black, right? - oh well, LOL).

I also entered it into the Macabre Monday HDH093 Challenge - Kuriously Korroded with Kenny K. "Create a dark, Gothic, or Halloween-based art piece that is distressed in some way. Ripped, smudged, torn, sanded, acid-eaten, burned, mangled... you get the idea." I used a lot of distressing with my black ink and also ripped around the edges...so it counts! :) I love when I get to play at Macabre Monday!

Our friends over at Skull A Day started a campaign to get today, June 4th, officially recognized as National Skull Appreciation Day – what a fabulous idea!!! We are BIG fans of the cranial cavity over at Smeared and Smudged so we decided to join in on the celebration by offering up some fabulous art from our various members!! In honor of Skull Appreciation Day I created several projects. I was up all night last night working my cranium to make these craniums look cool!!! Ha ha. Anyhoo, here are my offerings:

First, a couple of cards to warm you up. These cards were made using Smeared Ink stamps. We gave away some freebies for the blog hop participants and I wanted to color them up and give them some character.

For my main project, I started another journal...yep, ANOTHER journal! LOL. I have a weird obsessions with zombie apocalypse...and since we're so close to 2012, I figured this would be fitting. I used the side-facing skull from Smeared Ink's Anatomy 101 digi set. The rest was created with gesso, tissue paper, distress inks, paint markers and a little bit of Mod Podge. I titled my journal "How I Killed the Infected"....the journal will consist of anatomy lessons on how a zombie "works"....and the most affective ways to kill them. I'm really excited about it!!

Hello everyone! Tori here to bring you a fun little project I made last night using Smeared Ink's Faes unmounted rubber stamp set. I really, really love these little guys....and if you like them, you better hurry up and get them because they're being retired! They are available for ONLY $16 on our website (go to SHOP and then SPECIALS) but only while supplies lasts!

So, last week I tried a new technique using gesso and my NEW BEST FRIEND - the heat gun. I really liked the results I got from it, so I wanted to play with it some more (that's what she said, tee-hee). This time, I started with a box that i had left over from some Christmas chocolates that one of my work vendors had sent to me...it's a cute little box and I probably have 5 of them laying around waiting to be used. I took the box apart so I could lay it flat and then i applied a thick layer of gesso to it. Then, I heated it up with my heat guy to create the wonderful texture you see below. It's so awesome!

After that, I painted my box with purple and green acrylic paint and left it to dry. Then, I went and chose two of my favorite faes and colored them with my prisma color markers, white ink gel pen and some glitter glue - set aside to dry. By this time, my box was all dry and ready to play with me, so I punched some holes around the edges so I could thread some silver twine to hold the box together. I really liked the look of the silver with the purple and green so I used some around the top and also tied little bows on each side. Last, I adhered my faes to the box along with the sentiment "Believe"... and VIOLA! I hope you like it, thanks for stopping by!! :)

Today the Smeared Ink design team and Simply Betty's team have come together to showcase some of the fabulous new Zombies! Simply Betty is one of our challenge sponsors this month over on the Smeared and Smudged forum. Come and play along for a chance to win some fabulous prizes!!

I was given this opportunity to work with a lovely dead beach babe!! I really loved coloring her and was inspired to create an apocalyptic fantasy vacation scene. I used acrylic paint washes for my background and made some beat-up buildings...using a dark gray color scheme to give it a gloomy "dead" look. I drew in some wandering zombies to add some depth to my landscape. After all the coloring, I decided to try something new. I used my Gesso to create some neat texture for the sludgy water waves and then painted them with more acrylics (sea foam, green and a touch of black). The final touch was putting it all on black cardstock, cutting the hole for my beach beauty to peak out thru, and adding the sentiment "you deserve a vacation".

Pamper Yourself!

Good morning! Today I have a card I made for my mother for Mother's Day. It's a fairly simple card but I thought appropriate. I used the "pampered" li'l grumpie from the Occasions Li'l Grumpies set, stamped her in a lilac ink and colored her with my prisma color markers. I used a little bit of Tim Holtz distress ink around my edges and layered some maroon and cream colored card stock. I used the senti "pamper yourself, damn it.", also from the Occasions Li'l Grumpies set, added a bit of ribbon and a couple of brads to complete the look. I hope you like it!

Where My Peeps At?

Happy Tuesday! I know Easter has come and past, but it was still on my brain last night, so my creation for today is very "Easter Cutesie"....I 'hop' you don't mind! (HA! I 'crack' myself up....oh my, I did it again. BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!)

Today I have a project that I put together using recycled materials. This is the first time I've used a lot of these materials, so I hope you like it. My main ingredients are crushed egg shells left over from our dyed Easter eggs, an empty mini milk carton that used to be filled with Reese's Pieces, Gesso, lots of Mod Podge, some paper, some ribbons, some brads, a Li'l Grumpie, hot glue and some buttons - i know, that's a whole lot of stuff!

First I broke down my carton and covered it in a light layer of Gesso. I knew I was going to cover it in egg shells so i just applied enough to mask the bright orange color of the carton.

I crushed my egg shells so I had different sizes and shapes...

Then I mod podged my carton and rolled it in the egg shells. I applied a very thick layer of mod podge on top of the shells to give it a nice shine and to keep them from flaking off.

After drying, I applied some tea stain and china distress inks...

For my grumpie: He was stamped on a goldenrod card stock and colored with prisma color markers and a white gel pen. I used glossy accents on his eyes for that shiny look :) The last few touches were adding the ribbon, sentiment, brads, and flower buttons....

Our theme for this hop was to use metal somewhere on our projects....metal is so awesome, and there is so much you can do with it. Unfortunately, I am not experienced enough or have the tools to do something really cool. So, my metal usage is limited. I hope to remedy that soon. :)

So, I have to give a little bit of background so you will understand my project fully. My husband and I rent a house from my in-laws. The house sits on about 7 acres, in the country, and they have all kinds of birds on the property - chickens, turkeys, pheasants, ducks, geese, guineas and peacocks. Recently, we've had some problems with coyotes and bobcats coming onto our property in the middle of the night for late night snacks. Well, they've killed all but one of our turkeys and have gotten one of our female peacocks. It's been a few weeks and we've tried capturing the late night snackers with no success, so far. So, with all the death that surrounded our little house in the country, I've tried to make the best out of it. Some of my co-workers think I'm morbid, but...it's a tribute.

I kept the layout fairly simple because I wanted the elements to stand out more than anything else. I used Smeared Ink's bird nymph, colored her with my prisma color markers and added some glitter to the feathers to shine like a peacock's feathers would. I used the sentiment "Goddess" from the Elementals set and applied a little bit of green to the edges where it was cut out. Then, i got my peacock foot and wrapped it in some orange metal wire. Then I added my peacock feather and some extra orange wire and glued all of my elements together. I hope you feel the power and respect that I hoped to portray in remembrance of our little female peacock. Thanks for looking!

My First ATC!

Today, I'm sharing my very first ATC with you. For such a small project I managed to use four different Smeared Ink Stamps: the forward facing skull and fearful eyes from the new digi set 'Anatomy 101', the cross from digi set 'Glam Vamps', and the sentiment "forgotten" from the 'Quoth the Raven' rubber set.

I distressed some olive card stock with Tim Holtz Distressing Inks and my scissors to scrape the edges of the paper. I layered my skull so that the bottom jaw was below to give it some depth. The final touches were adding the glossy accents to the eyes and some jewels. Hope you like it!

Today is a bitter-sweet day where we celebrate a new Smeared Ink Release with our wonderful DT... Why so bitter, you ask? Its our last DT blog hop of the term! A new term starts on April 1st and some of our girls will be gone :( ...hurts my heart, but that's how it works sometimes.

Valentines Day Blog Hop Smeared and Smudged Style!

Over at Smeared and Smudged we were challenged to create a Valentines Day/love themed card without using hearts, the colors red and pink, and anything cute. This is hard because we like to use BLOOD over at Smeared and Smudged, but with no red, we had to do something different!

So, for my card I used the Smeared Ink stamps from Shadow Thingies. This is actually the first time I've used these little guys and I love them! I also added some wings to them and the sentiment from Smeared Inks digi set Heart Wings. I hope you like it.

The card is made to hold a little gift card from the Belfioré Spa...something I have gotten as a v/day gift from my husband before. :)

*EDIT: here are some updated photos, not sure how much better they are because they're still from my phone, but at least better lighting.

I used the DD hop sketch for my card. This is my first time ever using a sketch, so I hope I did ok. I wasn't sure how much leeway was allowed.

I used background images that I cut out of magazines. One cool thing about my day job is that I get all kinds of cool print samples. These sample magazines are full of textures and varnishes...pretty awesome. I chose an image of a blue balloon and layered it with an image of a sea shell. Then, I used my glossy accents to create some splashy waves that I added some clear beads to. I cut out some fish shapes and used them to frame the bottom corner of my Aphrodite. She was colored with prismacolors and I added some yellow beads...don't they look like scales? This is my first attempt at using beads, I think I like them better than glitter! :)

Anyhoo, I cut her up, and layered her and that's pretty much it. Hope you like her!

Smeared and Smudged meets Delicious Doodles!

Today, our wonderfully talented DT has come together to share art using images from Delicious Doodles. Delicious Doodles is one of our challenge sponsors this month on the forum and we're so grateful! Teri (from DD) is super talented and also cool enough to join us today on our hop.

Lady bugs are very special to me because they represent my daughter - she's my little lady bug. So, for my project I chose to work with Delicious Doodles' image "Love Bug". Cutest little lady bug EVAR (well, if you don't count my baby girl). Anyhoo, I found some awesome mini pails at michael's and decided it would work perfect with my love bug. I also found some really cool lady bug push pins and brought them home too. The hardest part of my project was working with the mini-size objects. I printed the love bug out at 1.5 inches tall. That's tiny! Then, I used some paper clay and molded a body for the love bug so she would be 3D. While I was at it, I also molded some skulls and some bone fragments (also tiny). These all went into my mini pail. I painted the clay with paint pens and then I glued everything in place. I love the outcome and so does my daughter. This will hang in her bedroom :)

I took this photo so you could see the back of the lady bug. I forgot to take pictures before I glued it in, but I molded it out of clay and painted it with paint pens.
